Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.Programme) in Dance and Music

The Department of Dance and Music offer Ph.D.Programmes (Full-Time & Part-Time) recognized by the Bharathidasan University , Tiruchirappalli. This is the first and the only college in the Southern Region that offers Ph.D. Programme in Dance.

Candidates who possess Master's Degree with not less than 55% of marks are eligible to apply as Full-Time (three years)/ Part-Time (four years). There shall be four sessions of registration, in January, April, July and October.

Off-Campus Degree Programme in Bharathanatyam

The college offers the first ever opportunity in the world to learn the performing art- Bharathanatyam the Indian Classical Dance, through Distance mode of Education, in collaboration with the BDC of the Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli, India from the academic year 2004-2005.

This Off-Campus Degree Programme gives B.F.A., M.F.A., and Diploma (an eligibility course to join M.F.A.,) course in Bharathanatyam. INTERVIEW (Aptitude Test)

The applicants will be called for an interview. The members of the Board will assess the aptitude of the candidates, based on which the selection will be made.

All certificates in Original should be produced at the time of interview.

Selected candidates will have to pay the fees on or before the specified date. Fees once paid are not refundable.

Admission is subject to verification of marks certificates by the Director of Government Examinations and if any certificate is found to be bogus, admission is liable for cancellation besides criminal action being taken.

Applicants must take sufficient number of attested copies of their S.S.L.C. and Higher Secondary marks sheets, before submitting the Originals at the College Office. The above originals will not be returned to the students during the course.

HOSTEL FACILITIES

* Separate hostel facilities are available for boys and girls.

* Rs.100/-per month for Lodging and

* Rs.700/- per month for boarding.

* Caution Deposit Rs.500/- per Annum. (Refundable)

* Other miscellaneous expenses are extra.

LIBRARY

The college has a well furnished library. There are different categories of books on Indian Dance and Music to meet the needs of the U.G and P.G. courses in Bharathanatyam and South Indian Classical Music .The collections of library books is being built up acquiring important and rare books on Indian Music and Dance and books on related subjects. Walkman & Cassettes are also available for the students.

SCHOLARSHIP AND FEE CONCESSIONS

Fee Concessions to SC/ST/Christian converts from SC/ST will be awarded under rule 92 M.E.R. Scholarship will be awarded to eligible students as per Government rule in force. The necessary forms of applicants for scholarship can be had from the office. No scholarship application will be received after 31 August.
